Adds they always play to win, they needed to play positively but the shot selection was not the best and they need to learn from that. The approach though was extremely slow by the batters from both the sides and that meant, there needed to be a collapse if there was to be a result. Bangladesh did bowl really well in the first two sessions of Day 5 but eventually it ended in a draw.

So, the game finally ends in a draw! It was quite difficult to force a result on a wicket which remained good for the batters throughout. Bangladesh did keep hopes alive by picking wickets at regular intervals earlier in the day but the pair of Dimuth Karunaratne and Niroshan Dickwella showed great grit and determination to ensure there is no surprise.

It could have been Sri Lanka's session but Taijul Islam had other ideas. Islam started the day by leaking a lot of runs. Although, he came back stronger to struck right after the drinks break. Soon, he removed Mathews as well. There is surely some assistance for the spinners with the ball gripping. Bangladesh would be eyeing to take the remaining wickets as quickly as possible to keep the possibility of a victory alive. An enticing session awaits. Sri Lanka could not keep their feet on the ground! Kusal Mendis and Dimuth Karunaratne started the morning session briskly. They stitched a solid stand of 67 off 88 deliveries. Although Mendis slipped out on 48, which did unbalance the ship for the visiting side. Angelo Mathews also followed suit by going back on a duck. Sri Lanka were put on the back foot, but Dimuth and de Silva managed to see off the morning session without any more wickets. Sri Lanka lead by 60 runs, they have just 6 wickets in hand.

What an entertaining session this has been. Wouldn’t have asked for a better start to the final day of the first Test match. Sri Lanka started the session aggressively, but Bangla Tigers roared back louder to get take the advantage off the Islanders.

Although Sri Lanka fought back harder to all-out Bangladesh with just a lead of 68 runs. Nevertheless, Sri Lanka would be a tad disappointed after losing two early wickets.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh batted, batted and batted. They managed a lead of over 50 courtesy of good innings from Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim. Credit to Sri Lanka though, they fought back exceedingly well. But they will be disappointed with how things ended on Day 4. The lead is not a big one but could be a decisive one. Day 5 promises to be an exciting one and one would not want to miss. Also, let us hope we get all the allotted overs on Day 5 as we have already missed out on quite a few. Sri Lanka on the other hand, will probably need a good session or a session and a half and they’ll be safe. However, they’ll need the likes of Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, and Dimuth Karunaratne to show great character. Despite the experience they have, it is going to be a real test and it will be interesting to see if they do get through it.

Bangladesh still leads by another 29 runs and they’ll hope they can take a couple more before that deficit is wiped off. The wicket has started to play tricks. It is turning and there is variable bounce so it is not going to be easy for the batters on Day 5. The spinners have to play a big role and will have to be at their best game if the hosts are to force a result.

Quite difficult to see a result being forced out of this game! The wicket still is a decent one to bat one. However, if Bangladesh do manage to take a few wickets early, Sri Lanka then might just succumb under pressure. That will surely be Bangladesh's aim. Sri Lanka on the other hand will hope to bat and bat for long yet again. Their first aim will be to head into Day 5 with not much damage. Stay tuned for the reply.

Sri Lanka bowled well in bits and pieces. They will be very disappointed with the effort by their two spinners. Especially Ramesh Mendis who just never looked threatening. Lasith Embuldeniya did manage to keep it tight but wickets were expected from the two but both failed to deliver. The pacers though really impressed, especially, Kasun Rajitha who quite easily was the pick. The concussion substitute was brilliant and he ended with a four-fer. Fernando also did a decent job whenever he came one, he bowled with pace and ended with a three-fer.

Bangladesh's innings finally comes to an end! They end with a decent lead of 68 runs. This innings has really moved at a snail's pace. The over rate was slow and after the initial overs, the run rate also got slower. However, Bangladesh have batted themselves into a position from where it is difficult for them to lose the game. It is the experienced heads who stepped up for them. The likes of Tamim Iqbal, Litton Das, and Mushfiqur Rahim batted brilliantly. The three combined added over 300 runs for the hosts. Mahmudul Hasan Joy also played a handy innings. However, there were not many contributions from the rest. Had there been so and had Bangladesh played with a little more intent, they could have well had a lead of over 100.

Bangladesh are sailing on smooth water! The session began with Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das scoring runs freely and quickly in the initial first few overs. The Sri Lankan bowlers did put a lid on the run-flow but failed to trouble the batters. Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das are batting on 85 and 88 respectively and will be aiming to reach their milestones in the next session and help Bangladesh carry on the same way. Talking about milestones, Mushfiqur Rahim became the first player from Bangladesh to reach 5000 Test runs in the session as well. The pitch is not doing anything for the bowlers and as a result, Sri Lanka have been put on the back foot. They need wickets and they need them quickly. For now, it seems like Bangladesh are running away with the game. If they gear up, they can get a healthy lead by the end of the day and try to get Sri Lanka all out on Day 5.
